Healing Schedule

Day 1 and 2
The treated area will be approximately 20 – 25% darker and bolder in width than when it is healed. Your skin is red under the pigment, which causes the color of the pigment to appear dark and red. There is some swelling, although difficult to see due to the thickness of the skin in the treated area. This will subside. Exfoliation, which will begin in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the area to flake away and a more narrow appearance will be the result. Do not be concerned that your treated area initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process. Leave it alone and do nothing to them.

Day 3
A scab begins to form and may start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Natural Exfoliation begins (This does not mean you have to exfoliate, this just means the treated areas are naturally exfoliating on their own). DO NOT remove scabs prematurely.

Day 4
The skin and scabs begins to flake.

Day 5
Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer. It will be about a week or two until the color clarifies.

FAQ

How long will my eyes be swollen after permanent eyeliner?

Occasionally people will experience swelling or redness for 2 or 3 days. 1 in 25 people may even experience a light bruising which will disappear quickly.

How painful is permanent eyeliner?

A numbing cream is applied to the area prior to your eye tattoo procedure, which should make the whole process relatively painless. Some people with sensitivity or a lower pain threshold may find the procedure mildly uncomfortable, but generally most client’s experience little or no pain.

Does permanent eyeliner need a touch up?

There are no hard rules about touch-ups, as each person holds the pigment differently. However, on average, most patients need a touch-up for their permanent eyeliner and microblading every year.
